I am shopping around for a new monitor, I am looking for LCD. However, I have no idea at what companies I should be looking at that would give a good deal.

I am looking for a 17-19in Monitor in the price range of 300-500 dollars with a digital connection.

Any suggestions on where I should be looking (i.e. company and some good online sites that offer good deals). But more importantly what technical statistics should I concentrate more on.

just to tell you, you wont be able to get a good lcd for that price. good lcds costs $500+, averaging about $600 for a good 17inch. i like dell, viewsonic, samsung, sony, and apple.

What you look for depends on the monitors uses... general text processing, internet, etc., or graphics work and/or gaming.

There's a couple of other similar threads under this General Hardware forum that you might be able to glean some good info from.

Word of caution: Keep your head when looking at these sometimes awe-inspiring LCD's (Samsung 213T), because your budget can go out the window real quick :D .

I am mostly going to use it for internet and engineering pograms I use at school and some gaming on the side. Gaming is not my main concern, just a solid all round monitor.
