looking for laptop

Hey, Im looking for a new laptop, somewhere in the 14" range, but if its a good deal Ill go for a 15.4"

I would like a dedicated GPU chip that can run vista and HL2 with HDR at least, a Core 2 Duo proc, Windows Vista Home Premium/Business/Ultimate, and under $1500. Im not looking to go buy one right now, it will probably be in a month after I sell my current laptop. The laptop must NOT be a Compaq/HP, Gateway, or Alienware.

Any suggestions? Currently I'm looking at
Asus A8JS http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16834220137
Asus F3SV http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16834220163

Another question: How do the current 8xxx mobile GPUs compare to 7xxx chips? The two above have a 7700 and a 8600 respectively and the 8600 doesnt seem to perform as well.

NEVER go with A8 series. they suck.
F series are quite nice

If I were you, I would go with Dell Inspiron 1520

Core 2 Duo T7300
8600GS

Buy it through your university and save about 33%

It might have to do with build quality. I have found in the past from personal experience that the Inspiron line of Dell Laptops are generally of lower build quality and materials then the Latitude line.
