Hi Guys,

I'm a bit out of the loop due to work, but am looking for suggestions on a rig. Looking to spend about $800-1000 before monitor. It's primary use for gameing (quake3), and possibly some movies for the mrs's. Looking to go high end on the following parts (not absolute top of line) --->
cpu (don't mind OC'ing to get more bang for buck; northwood?)
MB (Willing to go the extra mile here)
Video (a bit below the latest and greatest)

Now onto the other parts
As far as Ram and amount I'm guessing DDR is my best choice. The HD I'm open to suggestions, Sound Card looking for avg (not that impt to me), Cd Burner looking for avg-above avg.

The rest---> mouse, keyboard, speakers, case, floppy, Network card (generic I guess), modem not necessary.
Also what OS do you guys suggest, don't include that in the price though.

Thx in advance

If you're willing to overclock, then a Northwood is the best choice, specifically a 1.6A. A lot of people have been hitting in the 2.2-2.4GHz range with their 1.6A's. A far as motheboards go, I would really suggest one based on the new 850E chipset like the Asus P4T533. Of course if you go with the 850E then you'll have to get RDRAM, which in my opinion really is superior to DDR when it comes to higher clocked P4's. As for a video card, take a look at one based on the nVidia Geforce4 Ti4200. They provide the most bang for the buck.

Is there any MB that you suggest that utilizes DDR. Also any potential conflict problems with specific Vid cards working with certain MB's I should know about. Sorry for so many questions, but the last system I built is my P300 OCed to 450. So since then I haven't really been keeping up. I'm lose internet access in about 4 days.

Thx In advance
