If anyone is from TO can you help me out...I'm going to be in TO in November. The best deals I can find are on the Sutton Place 955 Bay ST. and the Novotel Centre on the Espanade. Does anyone have any opinions advice on these? The Sutton Place I can get for about $20 cheaper...is it a nicer hotel? it looks nice:) Also I'll be attending a conference at the Metro Convention centre, I think I can walk easily from the Novatel, but is the Sutton Place to far for walking? They seemed to think so, but it's hard to tell on a map.

Anyways, opinions on which one is the nicer hotel and the location would be appreciated:) Also, recommendations for places to eat!!! yummmm food:)

I know the Sutton Place in Vancouver is nice. Probably the same out there.

When I was in TO, I stayed at the Royal York. NICE hotel :)

Hey, if it's good enough for the Queen of England, it's good enough for me. ;)

As for your hotel choices, I think the Sutton Place might be a *wee* bit too far away if you want to walk to the Metro Convention Centre. (it's about a 45 minute walk) The Novotel on the Esplanade is much closer, but you might also want to check rates at the Renaissance Skydome Hotel, Toronto Downtown Sheraton, Holiday Inn on King, Westin Harbour Castle, and the Toronto Hilton.

Those hotels are all within about a 5 minute walk from the convention centre.

Well I checked out all of those hotels and the cheapest I can get is around $170-200. The Novotel I can get for $139 and the Sutton Place for $120 (which seems like a really good deal). The only thing is that I would have to pay for a cab all the time from Sutton Place if it's too far to walk.

So are the Novotel and Sutton Place pretty comparable in quality?

Oh btw, what is with the Esplanade? Is it a shopping street or what is special about it?

Yeah, I would say the Sutton Place and Novotel are pretty much comparable in terms of quality.

As for the Esplanade, you guessed it. It's a small district composed mostly of restaurants, pubs, small shops and such. It's a nice change of pace from the business district which is only a block or two away.
