Hey guys, my TV speakers died suddenly. I called the manufacturer and said SOL buy a new TV, and the place I bought it off of hasn't called back with an answer.
My criteria are that it's sorta small, and some sort of an upgradeable receiver. Thanks

I'm not really sure what's available for you.

What kind of options do you have? Onkyo makes decent ones as a rule of thumb. Have you taken a look at the HTIB area of AVSforum?

As an alternative to a HTIB option, you might think about just getting a pair of bookshelf speakers and a receiver to start and adding to it later?

The options are kinda limited, the best being a lower end Yamaha receiver and crappy speaker set. I'll check out the AVS forum though.

I'm in the market for a low budget HTIB as well. I finally decided on the Onkyo HT-SR600. It costs $250 US in a store that I found that doesnt object to shipping to Canada. I cant vouch for the place because I just told a relative that was heading down there to pick it up from Circuit City on the way back, (for 270$ i think).

This is only good if you are willing to purchase from the US. Its a ripoff in Canada where the cheapest I found it was $550 CAD.

Gotta love CAD1.00=1.02USD :)

My advice is to stay away from HTIBs. Get a nice solid Yamaha reciever and some Minimus 7's or a Cambridge Ensemble set off eBay, and you'll be much happier.
