Not sure what the model was called in the USA, but in Canada it's the Moto X Play or XT1562. Not sure the specific model is really that important, though. The point is that after repairing the screen on it twice, something has gone...awry. When plugged in, the phone will generally run perfectly fine. The battery when not plugged in doesn't lose charge quickly. However, the split second you disconnect the charge cable, the phone dies. Obviously it's the battery, right? Well, not so fast.

Sometimes, though not always, if you can manage to get the phone to boot while not plugged in (a chore in itself), it will run anywhere from 3 seconds to multiple hours before shutting down, and it doesn't matter what apps you have running. I've gone from opening an email to playing an hour of Hearthstone on it without it shutting down while not plugged in and any number of those apps launching, or it just sitting with the screen off by itself, will cause it to shut off like you pulled the battery. When you plug it back in, it will report the correct % of battery charge remaining, charge to whatever amount you want, and then as soon as you unplug it, it acts screwy again.

Now, that all said, sure, I'd love to pull the battery and just replace it. That would be great. If anyone knows where I can FIND one of the dang things either in the USA or Canada, though, I'd love to find you because I can only find the proper battery for it out of the UK and it's nearly 100+ dollars that I'm not willing to spend on a battery IF it's a problem in the mainboard. Oddly enough, while the battery is nearly impossible to find at all, the mainboard can be had on ebay for about a hundred bucks. I don't care if that's what it takes to fix it, but I need to be sure as it's totally not worth 200 dollars to fix.

Sounds like something was knocked loose when the screen was fixed. If you did it yourself, open it back up and check the connections. If not, and it hasn't been too long, take it back to whoever did the screen and have them check the connections.
