Here's my problem: I love Winamp 2.9 (simple, lightweight, gets the job done), but I don't get good surround sound. So for that I've been using Windows Media Player (which gives good surround, but otherwise sucks ass). Does anyone know of a good player (preferrably free) that does a good job? I've seen iTunes and Musicmatch and I don't really like those. I remember an old program, I tihnk it was called Sonique, too.

Anyone have some good suggestions for me? Thanks for reading, fellas!

I actually liked Sonique back in the day and I'm a diehard Winamp 2.8/2.9 fan. So I'd imagine that Sonique is pretty good these days.

Crapola, I got Foobar2000 and it kicks ASS, but I can't get sound out of the rear speakers with it.

Go to Preferences, Playback->DSP Manager, add Convert stereo to 4 channels. Glad that you liked foobar2k!:D

I've switched back to Winamp, but I used QCD Player for a while and liked it. Honestly, I thought the audio quality was better in QCD compared to the same MP3 played in Winamp.

Sonique and Foobar are good.

But personally, although I've liked other MP3 players, I've always come back to Winamp!
