Looking for good monitors other than Sony and Samsung.

Hmmm ok....lets try this a different way then 😱

Is Sony really worth the extra price?
I'd rather something a bit cheaper....

I like the Samsung, but I can't really get it where I live, and shipping costs are kind of much....

Other suggestions please?

KDS and ViewSonic are options....not very popular ones apperntly though 😛 NEC might be a possibility...

I don't want to buy monitors out of town because they are expensive as hell to ship. I haven't found a good place in town to buy Samsung yet, KDS, Sony and Viewsonic are the 3 best I've seen.

I'm looking at 19" Flatscreens. What would you take. Money is a problem...is the Sony really worth that much more?

I would try to find a Samsung, great monitors IMO. I have always liked NEC too. But of the three you posted I would go VieSonic.

NEC merged with mitsubishi last year so quality and reputations will go hand and hand when you mention them.

KDS isn't all that great. We seem to have alot of them on customer sites that were sold a while back and there are constant RMA's. The speakers and connections for speakers seem to go bad as well. Just my $.02

I'm not thrilled with my KDS AV195 either. The geometry seems to drift day to day and I had to replace the first one I bought because of excessive blurring on the left side of the screen. If you can look at one before buying and pick a good one it may be worth the money.

The Mitsubishi Diamond+ 91 is a really nice Diamondtron NF monitor, they have recently dropped in price, at least at Fry's, and are about $100 less than a comparable Sony ..............
And as mentioned above the NEC's also have some nice models, for even less $$$$.

Also there is the CTX VL 950SL that Anand recommends as a budget alternative in the Value Systems: Buyers Guide .............. I have no experience w/this model .....?
