I'm looking for some good headphones for gaming, music, etc. in the lower price range. I would like them to be comfortable (padded, room for ears) and a good brand .. perhaps Sony. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Sennheiser HD497 and Grado SR60 are supposed to be the best bang for your buck headphones. The Senns can be found for about $60 online and the Grados will run you about $70.

Hmm, I really don't want to spend that much but we will see. They do look like nice headphones.

EDIT: I am thinking I will probably get the SR60s unless the 80s are a major improvement ??

I have the Sennheiser HD490's and I love them. Great highs and good bass response from a headphone too. Their quite comfortable and only after some serious hours do they start to bother me (By serious I'm referring to in the area of 3hrs +). With a headphone amp they open up even more and are really smooth and tight.

I've heard the 497's and their as good if not better. Though I do prefer the black look of the 490's compared to the silver of the 97's...and if the 97's do come in black, my bad. The pair I played with were silver.

So many choices  I guess I will have to make a trip to an electronics store and try 'em all out. Thanks for all the replies.

I think the sr-60's would fit you nicely. The 80's i think will need a amp, and since your on a budget id go with the 60's.

Also, another one you might want to look at are the Sony V6..
There close type though, so it has its good and its bad, but overall its a good pair of cans. Actually since i doubt you will be using these on a portable source, these might fit better in your price range. I think close headphones would be better on computers hmm.. actually maybe i should get some instead of those bluddy logitech z640's ...

Has anyone tried this underdog Labtec Elite-840?
Last year I heard a lot of great reviews from Hong Kong and Taiwan newsgroups, websites, so I bought a pair for myself.
I bought them in Ebay for 13 dollars.
They are going for 20 right now.
Pretty good if you ask me.
