Looking for : Free Screen Capture Software

Hi,

I'm looking for a free software to do some screen capturing.

I was interested in the following features:

- Image capture (full screen, area/window/section, user selection rectangle, ...)
- Video capture (desktop capture in video mode, for example for tutorials, demos, presentations, ...)
- Ability to store video in, for example, flash format.


Any software that can do all features, or the most of them?

As far as screencapture video goes, I've had acceptable results with the free Windows Media Encoder 9 Series on WinXP and Win2000. During capture, set desktop resolution lower than your audience's screen resolution (e.g. 800x600 for people who'll view at 1024x768) and it will come out pretty crisp for them. Drawback: it records to Windows Media formats, so your audience needs to be able to play back WMV.

I've used SnagIt - but for the past two years I have settled on MWSnap - also free and very easy to use.

I don't know about video capture. I use RealAudio Plus for that.
