Looking for free DVD ripping software

I want to watch movies on my DS and I need the movie in AVI in order to do that. Does anyone know of a free DVD ripper/converter that can do this?

Yeah but alot of those are only trials. (they will let me copy about 1/3 of a movie)

Gordian Knot is the standard at the moment. Auto Gordian Knot makes it super-easy.

at least mine doesn't

i need to use dvd decryptor first, then auto gk to compress.

Use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to the hard drive
The use AutoGK to convert to an AVI if you can use DivX or XVid

I wouldn't know with Auto GK, I don't use it. I stick to regular GK, which rips. (Well, it has DVD Decrypter included, which does the ripping)

DVD Decrypter might be a little tricky to find since the feds shut the project down. And by tricky I mean ludcriously easy using google.

how can you even compare the two? i just tried it and i think it gave me the aids.

DVD Decrypter & DVD Shrink are probably the best two to use in tandem (one is the better ripper/burner and one handles the compressing so the movies fit on a DVD-5 disc)
