Looking for feedback on my i5-2500k build please

Just ordered a new computer, hoping I did it all right.

Total before taxes came to $1400ish with $80 express shipping. I've also got about $50 in mail in rebates as much as I hate those. I went with 8 GB of RAM since it seems like it might be worth it, even though I know it's such a small difference. Oh, and I'm taking two 1 TB Storage drives and my 60 GB Vertex SSD out of my current computer so I won't need those.

Just looking for some feedback. I'll probably use the aftermarket cooler to overclock the 2500k a bit but from what I've read, 4 GHz is very attainable on even the stock cooler.

Edit: I've got a 2 TB WD Green and 60 GB Vertex SSDs already for my HDDs.

why dont you wait till tonight for the new sale? they will probably have bundle deals or something. the 6950's should be re-stocked so you wont be paying a premium for them either. also you can take the dvd drive out of your current computer can you not?

you're also paying a lot for a case too. what type of case are you looking for? just a mid tower or...? the antec 300 is a great mid tower for a fraction of the price

I kind of wanted a big one, it looks easy to put together and good cable management. I definitely considered a mid case but apparently the 6950 is quite the massive card.

If that's the case, the CM 212+ seems kinda like a waste of money. I do wonder if the stock cooler is decently quiet though.

You should be looking for feedback before buying though. Otherwise, everyone will just tell you that you should have bought this instead of that. In general, everything you bought is nice, but some things are just a bit excessive in price.

Okay, well I changed the order since I had a credit card issue so I figured what the hell and took advantage of some sales. Saved about $200 from NCIX, just doing one final confirmation before I hit buy this time.

Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 $289.99
NCIX Gaming Bundle ASUS P8P67 ATX P67 3PCI-E16 Motherboard + Intel Core i5 2500K Sandy Bridge CPU 1 $379.99 -- Intel Core i5 2500 & ASUS P8P67 Pro ATX P67 LGA1155 DDR3
Corsair TX750W $129.99
G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Memory 1 $89.99
Corsair Graphite Series 600T Mid-Tower Case $169.98
Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus $29.99
LG 16X DVD-ROM Optical Drive SATA Black OEM 1 $19.99 $19.99
Shipping & Handling: $5.99 SUBTOTAL: $1,115.91 No PST $0.00 HST(12&#37😉 $133.91 TOTAL: $1,249.82

I'm considering the $70 upgrade to the i7-2600k package with the upgraded deluxe motherboard, [$520 for the package] but not entirely sure yet. It's probably overkill but I do plan on overclocking as much as I can without being too stupid. That being said, I'll likely only be using it for games so it might just be a wasted $70. I realize future proofing is both impossible and stupid to attempt, I'm just trying to find any loose ends here that I might be able to make small upgrades on. My budget was $1500 and with the NCIX sales I'm quite a bit under it right now.

Also I realize the PSU is overkill but it was actually $10 cheaper than the 650W equivalent.

Now you're doing things the right way! 🙂 A few comments:
-The P8P67 PRO is already overkill, so the Deluxe would be even more so. I'd try to find a cheaper combo or just buy the 2500K and a P8P67 non-Pro or Gigabyte UD3 separately.
-The PSU is way overkill and overpriced to boot. Get this XFX 650W for $60 AR.
-I would normally advise you to not bother with fancy RAM, but it looks like NCIX has crappy pricing on memory anyway (the value memory is inflated in price) so you might as well get it since the difference is so small.

I agree with all of this.
