Looking for Cube Case

ok, so you need a Small Form Factor cube? should have specified that, as its a completely different kinda computer

Acrylic isn't practical for day-in/day-out computer cases for all the oft-discussed reasons. I think Sunbeam/Logisys recently came out with a more cube-shaped one too. They are great for science fair projects/trade shows/store displays and similar. The only semi-reasonably priced one that can take an ATX mobo (that I'm aware of) is the Yeong Yang YY-0221 server case. Shipping will be hefty due to the weight (30 pounds net) and size of it (over the 84" breakpoint by a bit). If they offer DHL, it might be cheaper by DHL ground than other methods. People that specialize in servers also sell the YY, but I haven't looked up the price recently as they are almost certain to be higher - buildtoorderservers.com and servercase.com. mfr's site: http://www.yycase.com/yy-0221.htm .

dollar for dollar, Yeong Yang is the best choice IMO.

Looks like they are OOS at Directron/Axiontech, Circotech has them but aren't up-front about shipping. I'd call Directron to see when they will be in stock or could have one drop-shipped.

Just a FYI. Mountain Mods has plans in the works for a new horizontal mobo mounted (mobo lays flat like popular cube cases) case thats to be between the size of their Twice7 and their BobSlay cases.

Heh!

I created a (horizontal) monster... 😀

Alone -
But that one is $149.99 + shipping.

But it is also acrylic = not practical for daily use.

Louisss -
i know, i'm looking for more options...

Well, you're waiting for something that doesn't exist. The YY, LL and MM are it for ATX cubes and the YY is the only practical one among them that squeeks in under $150. +sh.

I never did ask them that question. It was just something they told me in the last email I got from them.

The Lian Li above is microATX and the DD boxes are just modded Sunbeam/Logisys cubes as mentioned earlier.

OP specified full ATX (which is the big hurdle when talking cube cases) and I think acrylic has been ruled out - if not, it should be. But I'm beginning to think it's not worthwhile to spend much time on these particular threads anyway - if you catch my meaning. It's nothing the OP couldn't have found out for himself with not much effort. There are even a couple of other threads right here from not long ago that trod the same path. And by the fourth or fifth post into this thread everything in the category was covered except for the LL Modular Cube which would cost in the neighborhood of $400. with a few options - definitely outside the cap. So we're done here.

I'm thinking if you want to meet the specified needs like the OP laid out a person needs to to go to someone like Mountain Mods and get one of their cases. The Twice7 case is only 14"x14"x14" Its expensive though unfortunately but I think thats his best bet for now. Unless he's into doing self mods.

thanks all guys, i'm aware i don't have much a of a selection, i don't want something huge, but also want to use the best technology. the twice7 looks good, but $300 is too expensive. i guess p182 ftw???

You could get the basic aluminum Twice7 and get the price down to $240 but thats still pretty pricey. Right now thats the best you can do for a metal case. Sunbeam makes an acrylic case that fits your requirements but thats an acrylic and not metal. The mass production manufacturers just havent figured out there's a demand for this segment yet.
