Looking for computer DVR / video surveillance card and software

Hi all,

I'm looking to set up a sort of video security system with at least three small cmos cameras. What are the best options at getting a PC set up to record video from these cameras continuously?

I'd like good resolution (at least 640x480) and would like the video to be compressed on the fly so it doesn't take up 1gb per minute.

I haven't researched much yet, but have found this:

Would something like this also be compatible with 3rd party software, or am I stuck with the software that the card comes with?

Its all a matter of finding the right card or cards. Most cards can handle 3 or 4 cameras. As for the software that may vary from one vender to the next.
