This is sitting in my newegg wish list waiting to hear my about promotion / bonus in December. Also waiting for the new Nvidia GTS line to appear so this is without a card. Budget is around $2g but I think I'm going to be just fine with $1.5

LIAN LI PC-A10B Black Aluminum Case $239.99
ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA X38 ATX Motherboard $249.99
OCZ GameXStream 700W $129.99
Intel Q6600 $279.99
G.SKILL 4GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) $129.99

Total = $1029.95

Figure the card will be around $400 or so

Anyway, any comments on the memory or PSU? I'm pretty much set with the case, cpu, motherboard

As for the case, I was planning on getting a Cosmos but the thing is just far too big. Doubt I'll be able to manage the size when I move next spring. Currently have a P180 which I despise

Also keep in mind that I already have...

Vista Ultimate Retail
Plextor 16x dvd burner
750 gigs in hard drive space with about 40% still left
Audigy 2 which I plan not to use (will use the Asus one till something that fully supports Vista is released)

To me you can save about 100.00 by buying a P35 rather than an X38 it will beas good performance wise, and not have the BIOS issues that you may have to go thru.. you are only going Single GPU anyway....

The OCZ PSU is known to have ripple Issues.

Both of these are known to be very good supplies.

ASUS P5K PREMIUM which is only $30 less with the Deluxe being $40

As for the PSU, yeah, I'll definitely switch that out. I may go with a Seasonic or that Corsair you mentioned

More Basic:

ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP

Among the Best:

ABIT IP35 Pro

See, I would go with "among the best" but at that price point I feel like $80 more is insignificant to what I plan on spending so I don't mind it so much :) I did read about bios issues but looks like Asus has addressed a lot of them already

Also, I did read earlier that the Maximus doesn't support SLI? That seems weird considering its a gaming board. Would anyone know about that? I'll probably post a question over at motherboards. Does the Abit support SLI or do I have to stick with Nvidia chipsets?

I also agree you can save a lot of money here.

First, yes, a P35 motherboard is what I would recommend.

As well, the power supply is overkill. Quite a bit. The Corsair 520W is plenty, as these new video cards are much more efficient, they use significantly less power.

For memory, I would get two of these...

Great memory, and you can't beat the price.

Seconding a P35 chipset board as well. SLI is a waste of money. Get yourself a decent Corsair/Seasonic PSU in the 420/520 range, bamacre's suggestion is perfect. Good choice for memory as well in the post above mine.

In fact if eWiz took our heathen dirty European credit cards I'd have them shipped internationally to me at that price... :(
