Looking for Chieftec owners who have done some mods for dust filters.

I'm trying to figure a way to keep all the dust out of my machine. Mainly by sealing up all the leaks in the front of the case. Currently I'm settling on the ghetto electrical tape.

Anyone done something similiar and have a more professional way of accomplishing it? 🙂

Ditto, best stuff in the world for a fan filter. However, if you just have more filtered air going into your case than air coming out, you won't have a dust problem. The positive case pressure will push air out of the case and not allow dust to come in.

In that case, maybe you can turn some fans around so you have a positive pressure overall. That will make sure the air doesn't leak in through any craks (and instead leaks out)

If you case has legs keeping it above the surface it is setting on, you could cut a hole half as large as your case is (with 1 inch margins) and mount a modified a/c filter to allow air to come in the bottom. I have done this to my main machine. The only problem is having to modifiy the a/c filters to fit the bottom of the case. On the other hand, I don't have to clean dust out of this machine and it runs 24/7 all year.

I already have good fan filters. I'm looking at blocking the odd little cracks that leak dust.

I use the aluminum HVAC tape. It's 2" wide and comes in rolls that sort of look like duct tape. I buy it at Home Depot.

Here's a pic of one of my cases sealed up.

Hmm. Interesting idea. Do you just block the front vents then?

no tape or anything. i just cut a piece of washable furnace filter to size and shoved it up there. friction holds it well enough.
