Hey, whats the best head unit for <$100 that plays CD-R/RW and has a jack to hook up an MP3 player?

doesnt look like that has an audio input like he wants. If you want one with that feature you will be looking at a no-name kind, or the used kind.

Why do some of these units say they play CD-R/RW but do not support MP3 or WMA? I thought CD's recorded in MP3 and WMA?

1. Jensen CD3610
2. Blaupunkt Montreal CD34

I don't recommend the Jensen. It is under $100, but that's for a reason. In addition, the input is RCA, so you would need a mini-plug to RCA cable.
The Blaupunkt has the mini-plug input, but it is on the rear. It is just a hair over $100, but it's a decent deck.
If you really need to stay below $100, find an older used Blaupunkt on Ebay. They use to make a bunch of decks with the input on the face.

No, songs are most definitely not encoded in MP3/WMA for standard Redbook Audio music CDs.

No that would not work. The head unit actually has to support MP3 or WMA in order for it to work. If a head unit says it supports CD-R/RW but does not say it supports MP3 or WMA then the only thing you can listen to are WAV files (structured as an audio CD).
