I have an incredible 2 by Verizon service and was wondering if I buy a rezound on eBay if it would be any different?

Would I need a new sim card ? I have unlimited data and my inc 2 is rooted with a nice ICS Rom. It's pretty old and banged up but works great.

Anything better in terms of HTC I can get or should I wait? I plan on buying used or full price since I want to keep my data.

A Samsung GS3 would be a big step up. The Rezound has a nice display, but it's still running a Qualcomm Scorpion like your Inc2, whereas the GS3 has Krait. The GS3 also has double the RAM.

Or you can wait for the next Nexus phone, which will also have some form of Krait (maybe dual, maybe even quad core).

Yeh I was looking at the s3 but most of my Rom dev community uses HTC phones so I'm not sure if anyone rooted and rommed the s3.

It's going for about 350 to 450 on eBay. I could keep my inc 2 until the charge port dies again or it just breaks but figured I would check out other options.

While we're here, do we know if the S3 has a better radio in it than the Galaxy Nexus? I've been using it for a while now, and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to get another Samsung device with terrible radios/handoffs, or if I should go to someone established (Moto, Nokia, etc..).

I think the radio is different from the nexus. I haven't seen many issues with people having bad reception or dropped calls

After searching around for 5 minutes, I pulled up so many threads that say how terrible the S3's handoff as well as reception and data speeds are. Too bad Verizon doesn't have another good phone right now. Looks like I'm freaking stuck till Nokia releases their Lumias.

If you want to stick with HTC, I don't think they have anything SIGNIFICANTLY better on VZW right now. They have a S4 device with LTE, but it just came out so you're not likely to find a really good deal on it. The Rezound isn't a very huge upgrade. The Droid Incredible 4G is a decent upgrade, but is a resounding "low-end" device in Verizon's like up.

Yeh and the inc 4g screen is not as good, and its about 100 dollars more. Besides the processor the rezound specs are a little better.

The rezound is 4g right? I would need a new sim probably.

There is a 1 click root method and it will install CWM recovery for you. Then you can flash any custom rom you want. I've been using JellyWiz because it is the most stable release I have found. No reboots and battery drain issues. There is no official CM10 or anything yet. We are all waiting for a Verizon Jellybean leak for this. So currently everything is a ported rom based on T-Mobil, AT&T, or Sprint leaks. They work quite well though and you can even have Google Wallet working with some of them.

As for the radios, those have been updated and there are few issues at this time. 4G locks and holds and speeds are great (area dependant). 3G speeds are a little slow but that's just Verizon's 3G network.

Yeh I'm thinking going with that s3 if I can get a nice deal on one. Car needs all 4 tires, just got a new gpu, lol so I don't feel like spending too much but if its worth the upgrade it would be great.

I've had 2 incredible 2 phones go bad on me, the charge port gets strained and this one is starting to show strain.

I'm currently running ecliptic sense which is ics 4.0 and I usually like using 4ext instead of cwm.

It really sucks they did away with unlimited data as if I buy through Verizon I would be paying more for just one data phone and one standard. Plus I stream music all day at work and on my commute I usually easily go over 2gb.

Verizon messed up in my favor when I upgraded. I had an upgrade on my 2nd line so I used it to get the GS3 and switched the numbers so I would retain my number and my 2nd line retains it's number. Then I noticed that since I did not upgrade my number I still had unlimited while my 2nd line is on the shared plan lol.

FWIW: I steam music all day using high quality streams and haven't broken 4GB between two devices. I have a GNexus on my 2nd line.

Now that I've switched to a shared plan, I've been Kim of surprised by how much data I don't use. Because now I'm obsessively paying attention, trying to decide of I can come down to the 6GB plan on AT&T.

I've done some web surfing on my iPad and watched two episodes of the IT Crowd off Netflix. Only 200MB used. Been streaming audio in my car and have only used about a GB of data on my phone alongs with everything else. My wife has high usage, but that was because her sync apps over cellular was on and I was downloading a ton of stuff when I got my 5. That's been fixed now.

All in all, I'm not missing unlimited data, but AT&T practically forced it on me by throttling me down so much, so I'm not too happy about it.

Yeh it depends how much you do on the phone besides streaming. Over times I noticed I got close to 4gb on 3g. The rezound is not so expensive on eBay and it would have 4g but I may wait to see if I find an s3
