I am looking to build a super clean pc with no sata hdd's or ssd's or disc drives. For storage I plan on using 2x 1TB m2 drives which should be available on samsungs next m2 drive that incorporates v nand as well as pci-e 3.0x4 and nvme interface. I don't mind using my 512GB xp941 and 2TB HDD until the m2 drives are available. Basically for the build everything will be attached to the motherboard directly except case fans and power supply.

Planned Build:

NZXT H440, 3x 120mm noctua nf-f12 front intake, 3x 120mm noctua nf-f12 top exhaust, 1x 140mm noctua nf-a15 rear exhaust, i7 5960x, noctua nh-d15 cooler, coollaboratory liquid metal TIM, 4x8GB 3000Mhz CL 15 GSkill Ripjaws 4 DDR4, Reused GTX 780 until 16nm finfet gpu's out, Arctic Accelero Extreme IV GPU cooler + large backside heatsink with 2x 92mm noctua nf-a9 cooling rear heatsink with coollaboratory liquid metal tim, Asus Essence STX II sound card in bottom pci-e to let gpu fully breathe, Reused 512GB xp941 + HGST deskstar NAS 2TB HDD until Samsung V-nand pci-e 3.0 x4 nvme drives out, 1200 watt Seasonic 1200xp3 (yes i know I don't need 1200 watts but it stays fanless until 500-550 watts and on the lowest rpm 500-750 watts), GPU, CPU and RAM will be overclocked to verified stable maximums supported with the fans kept at the highest rpm before noise starts getting noticeably loud so a motherboard with top quality power delivery is also needed. Ending price when new gpu and new storage purchased should be about 4200 dollars and ill be able to offset about 1500 conservatively, most likely more, selling old parts so it should put me in the hole about 2700 which isn't bad since ill be keeping it a long time.

Haven't chose the motherboard yet as it's hard to find the info of what motherboards have 2 ultra m2 slots has there are a buncha conflicts when searching.

I currently am using a 5 year old build with upgrades along the way. An i7-980x system. I do a lot of video transcoding so the 8 core haswell-e finally made upgrading worth it for more than just the new features. I've saved a lot of money due to the slowdown in cpu processing growth and can afford to splurge and keep this next build a long time. Though maybe it is more prudent to wait for skylake-e as it will have a lot of major updates like native usb 3.1, pci-e 4.0 and the new DMI 3.0 and intel said skylake will actually be a major leap in performance and since I plan to keep this next build for a minimum of 5 years most likely more it may be smart to have the latest standards.

Is there an x99 option with 2x ultra m2 slots? I will only be using 16x lanes for graphics and 8 lanes for ssd's and I could even add another graphics card (but I never would I'm all about using the single fastest card you can to avoid dual gpu headaches)and still be at 40 lanes with both gpu's in 16x mode so that isn't a problem.

If there is no suitable x99 option then hopefully x100 series skylake-e mobos will carry dual ultra m2 slots. I will most likely wait for the regular mainstream skylake release before i start this build to see the actual IPC gains because if skylake is as big of a leap in performance and IPC like intel says then I will 100% wait for skylake-e whether x99 has dual ultra m2 or not.

Why would you do that?
The best x99 boards are Are Rampage VI and SOC Champion.
Maybe AsRock makes a board that conforms to your demands.Know that if they do it basically has no warranty.

I already said why I wanted to do it. There's got to be a board with 2 ultra slots having 40 pcie lanes makes this a very real possibility for people to want to do.

Newegg's product photos & specification lists should provide enough info, although I've never seen such a dual M.2 slot X99 board. Also: I'm not so sure about the M.2 form factor's ability to avoid overheating.
However: instead of wishing for a board with dual M.2 slots, maybe dual Intel 750 series PCIe SSD's would be a more practical possibility.

But, as you said: waiting for Skylake may also be a good idea.

Asus X99 Deluxe supports dual m.2 32Gb/s. (Although one is through an add in card.)

Basically how the asrock extreme 6 z97 board has 1 ultra m2 slot and 1 regular m2 slot. I'm looking for the x99 version of that that has 2x ultra m2 slots instead of 1 and 1.

If mainstream skylake proves intel wasn't lying about skylake being an actual large leap in performance then I will wait for skylake-e and hopefully by then some 1 will stick 2 ultra m2 slots on a board.

Sounds like you're building a vacuum cleaner with all those fans. Keep it simple and old school, SSDs for speed and HDs for storage. No shame in using those legacy SSDs.

As for motherboards, go dual Xeon since you're doing video work. An inexpensive and robust MB is the Supermicro C7X99-ICE-F I use this MB in the CSE-743 case and it rocks. Case is super cool and almost silent. Keep it simple, keep it old school.

Wow, $620 at Newegg for a motherboard.

Got a SAS RAID controller built in and a bunch of other neat features. Personally I prefer getting a lesser board and adding a seperate RAID controller as you have better control to suit your needs. Eight 2.5" SAS drives RAIDed for a scratch drive flies like a raped ape.

Why? Asrock might once have been bad. Not any more.

The Cheese doesn't like ASRock and lets us all know about it at any opportunity.

My ASRock X99 OC Formula also has 2 x M.2 slots one Ultra and one is pcie 2.0 x 4

Just waiting for those SM951 NVMe variants to come out, and pickup one for the Ultra M.2 slot, just in time for Windows 10.

That ASSrock board is seriously flawed if you want to do a high end O/C with an 8 core chip. It only has a single 8 pin connector for CPU power! Major fail. Sure its VRM onboard may be able to supply 60A but the connector is out of spec and most PSU will trip OCP above 30A. The Corsair AX1500i, pretty much the best and most powerful available WILL trip unless you install the link software and increase OCP limit over 30A. That's just unacceptable. Granted these are under extreme conditions (AVS/2 heavy load) but I thought I'd throw it out there.

The SuperMicro case is nice but it's not going to be very quiet let me assure you that!
