I work with mostly Word and Excel files and I have free time at hand at my work place but the computers are blocked from installation of any apps. I keep my files on a 1GB jumpdrive and I was wondering if there are any apps that I can store and use from my jumpdrive without installation to view, edit and print files. Editing is a bonus but if I can atleast get a viewer with print function it'd be good. Help is really appreciated, Peace.

OK what if I install openoffice or something on the USB drive and just execute it on another comp that doesnt have the software or does this still revolve around registries and the like.

Thank you will try it tomorrow. But I was wondering as it says "Works with Excel 95/97 files, I create files in Office XP, will it still read?

I think it'll depend on the permissions given to USB drives @ your work - I think one of the potential security policies is to disable running executables from the USB drives.

I dunno, but I'd guess there's probably a reason why the computers at work don't have word/excel on them already and the ability to install is blocked. It's probably against work rules to be using the computer for anything other than work-purposes -- and trying to bypass those policies is likely to get you fired...

Thanks for your replies. I tried it and it worked at my office comp. But it did refuse to open one file but I guess that's cause of incompatibility. Now I have to find such a word add instead of abiword.
