Looking for an Epox 8KTA+

Anyone seen one yet? It's up on their site, but I don't have the time to wade through resellers one by one. Haven't seen it on pricewatch yet either.

Actually, I could go for the Aopen AK73, but that looks farther off.

Keep your feet still. 8KTA+ is old news already.

It has been revised to become 8KTA2, the only difference being the new revision south bridge chip VIA 686B (was 686A on the 8KTA and 8KTA+). The B revision chip brings you UDMA100 on both IDE channels instead of UDMA66. (Note that this is backward compatible, so you can still use drives with slower interface on those channels.)

Thanks, but I really don't need ATA100, and by the time I do, I'll be on to another board. I didn't know if VIA has been shipping the 686B yet, so I didn't want to wait for something I won't use. (Although it the price is close enough and availability is there, then....)

Hey Topher, You can go to athlonmb.com for a review on the 8KTA+. Also Bunta.com has the 8KTA+ for $102.00, in-stock. I'm not sure what shipping cost's.

Hard to beat for the price. I think I'm going to get one.

I'm thinking of getting this board too when I upgrade my celeron 500 to a Duron 800.

I don't need ATA100 either. My Quantum Fireball Plus LM is currently running at ATA33 on my P3B-F. ATA66 will be plenty fast.

That z-buy web site seems VERY fly by night. i put one of the epox boards in my shopping cart, and got redirected to a dead end!! Then i go back in, choose a duron and it doesn't even say what speed this thing is!! no thanks.....

I'm building new systems for myself and my wife, and I ordered two 8KTA+ bundles from Mwave a few days ago. Concerned that I might get the 8KTA instead, I e-mailed Mwave. They assure me that they're shipping me the 8KTA+.

I also called Mwave, concerned that I might get a 8kta. The rep assured me that the "plus" model was shipped. I guess I'll find out - ETA is tomorrow.

You might want to spend an extra $2.00 ($102.00+ 12.83 shipping to east coast)and get it from BUNTA. The have very good reseller ratings and their website works correctly. Got mine there three weeks ago and all went well.

CNetPC in New York/New Jersey has the EP-8TKA+ for $106 with free shipping. A pretty good deal for folks who don't have to pay local tax. I called them before I ordered the board and they assured me that they have the EP-8TKA+ version of the board, though they was some verbiage about a plain EP-8TKA on their web page.

Only one person commented on the company on the ResellersRatings page and he was pissed because they charged so much for shipping, but they seemed to have changed their ways in that respect for now. We'll see how this order goes, because I saw some other interesting sounding deals on their page, such as an Epox Socket 370 LX440 AT motherboard for $20 with free shipping. You could upgrade an old 486 to a Celeron 433 for $80 or so bucks, plus whatever you needed to shell out for RAM. video and hard drive.
