A friend of mine is trying to locate an internet commerce software expert to function as a consultant / expert witness in the valuation of an e-commerce software company. I offered to ask around on a couple of the tech boards I frequent.
They need someone to help them draft substantial questions relating to discovery requests for a pending civil proceeding which involves the evolution of this company over the last several years and how their product enhancements relate to the increased value of the company.
This company offers products/services in the following areas so you should have an expert level understanding of how they and the related industry work:
- Pay per click / view
- Pay per click / view fraud detection
- Key word / page rank management
- Affiliate relationships and affiliate networks
- Ad serving / tracking / optimizing
- Adwords/overture/Inktomi/MSN/AOL/etc engines
- Click/traffic reporting / optimizing
- Online lead generation / tracking / auditing
- Online marketing / tracking / search / affiliate industries
- Software design, development, change tracking processes
If interested, you should have credentials that can be presented in support of your expert status claim. (Seriously ? you may end up in court with your hand on a bible, so don?t embellish your knowledge or experience.)
The contract would involve the following:
- Reviewing/critiquing current documents
- Generation of new documents/reports that can translate tech speak in these areas into something that finance people and lawyers can understand and use.
- Generation of discovery request questions for use in preliminary proceedings (coming up with the ?right? questions to ask of the witness about tech issues and how those issues impacted the value of the company)
- Possibility of testifying as an expert witness in court if the case is not resolved before going to trial.
