Looking for an app

Is there an application out there (hopefully a free one) where you can enter a range of IP addresse, it pings each one, lists the response, and possibly even returns maybe the computer's name or other info?

Here at work we keep a spreadsheet that lists IP address, PC's name, user's name, and some other things. We have some entries that are no longer valid or even where the IP is in use but we have no record of what is using it.

Sounds like something that would be easy to write in Perl, or even a shell scripting language.

Why yes, yes there is.

you can add, remove columns, scan ports, ping ip ranges, etc. etc. Awesome tool.

thats awesome! thanks!

I first learned of this app about 2 years ago. It has been extremely useful in troubleshooting, finding out an ip address that a certain user's PC has been assigned, etc.
