I have a Sager NP4780 and love it. I've never had to send it back for repairs so I personally don't know what that is like. I know if I had a business and had multiple lappys i would want a low down time and Sager is in California and the travel to and from for me i Florida would be at least a week. But the key thing is if the lappy never breaks it never has to be sent back.

I love my Toshiba Satelitte 2455-S3001- Durable and reliable. Make sure you buy extended warranty in case something happens. I had a screen go blank and damn, whe I called the 800 #, within 2 minutes problem solved. Why Toshiba? They invented the laptop. Assembled in US like Dell. I also bought a heat sink for $68 from raindesign.com in San Francisoco (based on Laptop magazine recommendation). Battery and laptop always run cool; he sink sink is cool to touch. They call it the iLap.

FYI, I work for the federal government in DC and have no financial interest in Toshiba or Raindesgin.

For those searching for the iLap, the correct URL would be raindesigninc.com.

Link.

Would describe such a product as more of a stand, or a notebook cooler, and not an actual heat sink, per se.

IBM would definitely be my choice for a buisness laptop unless you want to go to something like a mac powerbook. Both are very capeable computers and both are top of the line build wise. I'm a pretty big mac fan but since it's not simple to just change over your whole OS and all IBM would be my choice if I were to get a PC notebook. T42 is definitely a fav of mine. I'd love to have one!

Not simple to change your OS, and not even possible for people running many programs. The PC user that's stuck only with Mac-available software is nonexistent, unless he/she was planning on migrating in the first place, and anyway the licenses are usually not transferable. One big exception to this is the beginner, someone who only uses his/herlaptop for editing and viewing simple documents and surfing the Web.

One great piece of software I started using recently is OpenOffice.org. It's available for Windows, Linux, Mac, etc. It works well, and can help someone migrate off of Windows at no expense whatsoever.

IBM makes freakishly awesome laptops. They're durable, reliable, and extremely high quality. Admittedly, they're a bit more expensive, but I would'nt trust anything important to a Dell if I were you.
