Looking for a wireless mouse for my laptop

Hey everyone. I just got a laptop for school and I want a good wireless mouse to use for it. I want something that has a good response, forward/back buttons, a mouse wheel (are these standard now?) with middle click, and it needs to be optical/laser. It also needs to have a wireless mini-receiver, via USB.

I just bought the RX7 by Logitech but I don't really like it. The middle click is too hard to push, and it's really easy to accidentally push the "side to side" instead. It also lacks forward/back buttons on the sides. The "side to side" functionality of the middle mouse button is pretty cool, so a mouse that supports that would be useful, but not necessary.

I'd prefer a price under $45.

I'll be buying this directly from Best Buy (sorry, no online purchases, personal reasons) in a couple hours, but I can hold off for a bit if I get a few good answers so that I can research.

As long as you are buying off the shelf retail, why not just go to B-B and try them all out and pick the one that suits you best?

That works as far as the feel and look, but what about performance? Best Buy won't exactly tell you that a mouse is only 50dpi :p Not to mention the models available for play are usually broken or messed up in some way...

Any mouse with the Laser optical element should be fine, so going to BB and trying out all the Laser mice in your price range is not bad at all.

The problem with your Logitech might have been not the mouse itself, but the SetPoint software. If you can, stick to the older 3.3 version. The newest 4.0 release caused huge conflicts on 2 of my computers.

I presently use MX 610, MX 3000 keyboard with MX 600 mouse, and G5 gaming mouse with G15 keyboard.

Good luck!

At home I use an MX518 with a G15 keyboard, and my brother uses (my old mouse) an MS IntelliMouse Optical 1.1A.

I ended up buying a MX620. It was on sale for $39.99 (down from $65) so it was a good deal. Thanks for the help guys, even though I ended up making the decision myself :p
