My wife's friend's BF is serving in Iraq and she hasn't heard from him lately, about 3 weeks. His family seems to avoiding her. She's worried something may have happened to him.

Is there a way to look up a soldier's name and see if he's been wounded or KIA?

if it was a serious bf I am sure the family would know already and she could get in contact with them.

/flame suit

Yes, that is a possibility that I considered. However, she's already very upset and I see no reason to add fuel to the fire at this point.

Oh boy.

Is there a way to look up a soldier's name and see if he's been wounded or KIA?

There's a list here:
http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2003/iraq/forces/casualties/2007.03.html

but I'm sure it's subject to the Privacy Act (as in, names appear only after family gives consent, but I'm not sure.)

Good news is, I don't see him as casualty on either this site or Military.com (thank God).

Bad news is, MrDudeMan is probably right. He's probably dumped her and just ignoring her now, and his family knows that.

I'll let my wife's friend figure that out on her own. I just wanted to reassure her he is alright. I think I've stuck my nose in far enough, if you know what I mean.

Edit: Thanks for the help! :)

she probably doesn't realize how busy his life is right now.....trust me sometimes it is just really hard to make a phone call home when you're in that kind of environment

I don't think he cares whether or not the family knows, he's asking where someone could go to see if someone was injured/killed.
