Looking for a Team Project Management software

Ok me and I a guy I met online are working on a website and a program. We were wondering if there would be an easier way for us to work together. We are looking for a program that we can both use and be able to add a file to our site through the program and then it appears in the other person's program. And then we also need to be able to put notes into the program saying what we are working on and/or what needs done and other general notes. Are there any programs out there like this?

Darn it, just last week I deleted a bookmark folder with many "collaboration software" sites that would've helped you, but that's a search term you can use to find several.
