Looking for a studly little 21" TV...

I'm just price shopping around right now for a little 21" television and curious what others would suggest...

The TV is going in a bedroom and space/price are no concern (or at least at this point...).

Basically, I'm looking for the "creme de la creme" of 21" TVs... I don't care if it's comb filter, LCD, etc... it just needs to be awesome!

Only other requirement - component video...

Please make sure all suggestions include a link so I can reference them with your post.

Best wishes and thanks for the advice/ideas!

No component and not everyone seems real thrilled with it, but thanks for the idea!

Just a note: I'm going to bed, I'll check back in in the morning. Thanks!

We have that TV in our bedroom. Great little TV.

That doesn't look like a bad little TV, actually. Do they make anything in 20" that supports HDTV resolutions? I would really like to find something with progressive scan, etc...

Why do you need component on a 21" TV? Is there really *that* significant of an advantage over Svideo on that small of a screen?

Maybe more of a personal pref, but I already have the component cables I'd be using... That and the fact that I'm really trying to get the most out of a 21" and s-video *tends to* have a bit of grain to it that I don't really care for.

Wowzers! Yeah... not bad. I'm not sure that I need something that playsback media cards though.

How about this little dude? Found at BestBuy

Here...

Didn't look too bad for the price. 640-line horizontal res.

Just looked that one up - not too shabby at all! Looks like it can be found for about $600...

As long as you guys have one yourselves - how is that tube for scan lines? I've got no problems with comb filter (silly LCD and your dead pixels), but I want to be sure the picture is about as clear as you're gonna get.

Well, with a 20" size you get a sharp picture... Anything past 21 and the image starts to stretch too much for my taste. If $600 is what it takes for a nice one... but I'm still a little unsure with LCD... too many dead-pixel horror stories.

I guess I've NEVER been impressed with LCD's for anything besides viewing stuff like office documents on a PC/laptop.

Movies always look washed out, fuzzy, grainy, and just flat out unimpressive. This is on latops, 17" Samsung LCD's, 50" Sony LCD TV's, the little 17" and 20" LCD TV's you seen in BB & CC. They all just look like crap.

Give me a tube TV or a RPTV for a fraction of the price any day.

Other than the "coolness" factor I can't figure out why there's even a market for these things. They are priced out of the atmosphere and they have vastly inferior picture quality.

Can't really do anything but agree with you there.

I think I'm a little more interested in the Toshiba tube television mentioned above than I am in that Sharp AQUOS... I'd just like to find a tube that does 480p in a 21" (approx.) size... And that seems to be the hard part... All the HDTVs in that size range are LCD - that I've found so far...

my sister has the 20in and ive never noticed any lines, or anything, my roomate in college had the 13 and we connecte his xbox to it with component cables and it looked STUNNING, night and day diff between RCA and Component even on a 13inch TV

Though I've never seen you mention your choices in technology (yet with little doubt you have before) - well... you've got good taste, heh. I'm not sure, however, that I would notice $1500 worth of difference between that and the Toshiba - though it would definitely look a little more attractive on ye ole desktop...

I assume you would prefer a larger screen?

Very interesting... I must say, I'm really being swayed by that little tube... I know I live about 1 hour from a Best Buy, and I suspect they might even carry that model... When/If I get a chance on Monday I may have to swing out and take a look at that one... I'll be using it for PS2/Gamecube/DVD and it would probably work just perfectly.

However, I'm still open to other suggestions.

Thanks for all the ideas thus far. I'm glad I took the time to get your folks' opinions - please feel free to "keep 'em comin'"!

Heh, no comment...

I did previously have a Phillips 32" in there, but the image just gets so stretched at those sizes... I prefer a higher resolution image to a bigger one, but that's just me I suppose.

I did get a chance to swing by Best Buy yesterday and look at that little 20" Toshiba... Not a bad little setup. They also had a Phillips 20" flatscreen that caught my eye... I don't have a link right now, but it was like $189.99... Anyone care to explain the $40 difference? I'm sure there's some good reason...

Thanks again!
