Looking for a sound card with 2 outputs

I currently have an Audigy2 and have my system hooked up to my computer speakers and my stereo. I am using the second channel out to go the stereo. To enable output to both, I enable four speaker output and CMSS2 and set the focus to the middle. This is quite a hassle and does not provide optimal sound quality. I also have tried a splitter to split the output of the main audio out on the card, but I lose stereo output to both.

So I am looking for a card that has more or less and main speaker out and a line out. I am only using a 2.1 speaker setup. I was looking at the old Soundblaster Live 5.1 cards, but was unable to determine if they had a separate line out.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I have a Soundblaster Live 5.1 soundcard and a 4.1 speaker system.

I was hoping that I could use the 3rd output to goto my stereo but could not. Nopte, the Live 5.1 doesn't have a line out....I saw a card that did once....it was a really old ISA Soundblaster Vibra 64 or something...haven't seen any others.

I have a splitter on the front channels and the rear just goto the rear...sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't...I have had instances where I get monoraul sound......but then I fiddle about and it works!

So you might want to try a different splitter and/or cable....I presume you are using a Phono to 3.5mm jack to connect to the stereo?

Have you looked at the Hercules Game Theater XP? It's what I own, and the break out box has more inputs/outputs than any other card I've ever seen.

The Santa Cruz has two outputs, but it'd be a downgrade from the Audigy 2 (although better than the SB Live)

Did you use a stereo splitter?

Radio shack has these splitters, you can even split it into 3 stereo plugs.

I have one of these plugged into my Versa jack (Santa Cruz) one goes to my speakers the other to my headphones this way I dont have to keep on plugging and un-pluging my headphones.

Did not mean to insult you I am pretty sure you used stereo splitters, just cant understand why you would loose stereo.

Intel is promoting a future standard which will require two independant audio streans for two simultaneous users or two applications (DVD uses one while a family member listens to MP3s on the other). I'm sure you can tell applications to output to both too.

Just wait?

If your receiver has digital inputs, the analog and digital outputs on the Audigy cards can be used simultaneously. With the platinum you could theoretically run 6.1 analog out, with 3 digital outs and headphone out all at the same time. I don't understand why Creative doesn't implement i-Link Digital Audio Interface through the onboard firewire ports, would appear to make perfect sense on the surface, but that's a different topic.

There are a number of solutions for multiple analog out's in higherend recording cards like the M-Audio Delta series. They cost more and gaming support is terrible, but what fun would be getting everything you want in one cheap package?

I have 4.1 system and on the Audigy running Audigy2 drivers and software to obtain the same output on both front and rear speakers, I turn on CMSS2, set focus to rear, and set the source in the EAX Console to 100% for all EAX presets. I get really good sound quality from that.

Thanks for the suggestions. As for the stereo splitter thing, I have tried two different supposedly stereo splitters and with each lose the stereo output. Perhaps I will check out Radio Shack and see if they have any more suggestions.

As for the CMSS2, I suppose I should try tweaking the settings a little to get better output; and I may look into the Santa Cruz.

Thanks guys

It can only be a splitter problem -the card cannot affect what you do with the signal out of the connector. You may want to set for 2 speakers and disable all effects for testing.

In the olden days I had a Live! and enabled 4 speaker output so I could use the front output to an amp/speaker setup and the rear for wireless headphones. The normal stereo signal was duplicated on both.
