Hi, i used to use ACDsee... currently i have ACDsee 5.0 Standard, but i find this software uses too much of resources..

any suggestions of a small, and ease to use software to replace ACDsee.

XP's build in pic browser is good, but want to find a better one.

thanks

You need ACDsee Classic. It's actually ACDsee v3.2 and it's a billion times better than either of the bloatware versions (v4.x and v5.x) that followed it. I see it's $34 but maybe since you have v5 they'll let you "downgrade" for free.

If you used to use an older version (pre-4.0), do you still have it? Just use that. It's one of the best image viewers out there.

Open up Acdsee and go to "View>Thumbnails" and the contents of each folder will show up as thumbnails.

According to your first post you've already got the latest version. Do you mean going from 5.0 to 5.1? That won't fix it. They've ruined Acdsee since v4.x. It's just big and bloated.

Just run v3.x and enjoy one of the best image viewers ever made. Remember, it's an "Image Viewer", it's not supposed to be Photoshop and I think ACD Systems has lost sight of that.

ACDsee is by far the best picture viewing program but must buy it.
I use Slowview and Irfanview on my work computer (to keep everything legal..) and they work fine.

I recommend Irfanview to friends and family. I just started using Slowview so havn't recommended that to anyone yet..

i use Slowview also, but it seems to run into problems when you get too many files in one folder, it crashes on you. Don't know what the limit is, but seems like I remember reading something about a limit. I had about 400 photos before I had trouble, no problem just added another folder, and put some of the files in that.
Must say I do like it though and it is free, will play videos, mp3's also if you want to use it for that
