looking for a socket A CPU heatsink for OC

can somebody reccomend a heatsink (and optional fan) for cooling my T-bird processor? socket A, on a chaintech VJD2(A) mobo.
and no, I will not upgrade my computer, nor will I buy a new one any time soon.
I have the money to spend on a medium priced heatsink, but I can't afford a new system. and I also can't afford a new processor or something. or GPU or RAM for that matter.
I'm just going to get every last bit of strength I can out of this old compy.
any idea's?

You will be hard pressed to find a better heatsink for your Socket-A.

I use cheap HSFs from Speeze/Spire/Masscool - the FalconRock series. Hard to beat for the money. Give it a bit of surfacing and it will run with about anything. Easy to add whatever 80mm fan you find interesting if the stock doesn't suit. If you really want to spend money unnecessarily, there are plenty out there willing to take it...

I used a T-Bird 1.33 through last spring, in a Gigabyte ZXE MB (KT-133A). I had to pull the stock heat sink because it collected dust bunnies way too fast. The suggestion of a Spires Falcon Rock isn't that terrible of a choice, but a T-Bird is a real scorcher at stock cpu settings, and mine wasn't cooled adequately by that HSF (I put the Spires on a Palomino 2100 where it is doing just swimmingly). If you decide to try one of those, shop around first -- you should be able to get one for $15 with shipping.

The SI-97 is a heat pipe variety that handles a lot of heat very effectively. *But* Gigabyte makes a very handsome "Neon 7" heat sink with a large copper core, and a 90 mm fan on top that is available for about 20.00 or less. The LED's on it are a startling, very attractive Royal blue color. I don't think you can get an SI-97 for that low of a cost.

(Just checked at the Egg, a few hours later, and they only have the Neon for A64's and P4's, not the similar one for Socket A. It's $16 before shipping cost, and the photo is at

does anybody know a site that ships to belgium? newegg doesn't ship to belgium as far as I know, and jab-tech doesn't either...
and all local stores only sell cheap no-name coolers except the huge zalman 120mm things, but they don't fit on socket A.
thanks for all the help, I didn't know thermalright made those heatpipe coolers for socket A.

I am recycling an old P3 heatsink for my video card, tomorrow it's ready for installation, but I don't dare to do that kind of stuff for my processor

www.epowerhousepc.com ships across The Pond but is not as communicative as
sidewinder.

I realize the SI-97A costs more than the others reccomended BUT it can be installed
on the more current AMD chips also. A BIG plus come up-grade time. Makes it worth
something on the used market too.

The ThermalRight thermal paste(TIM) is very good=no need to buy AS5.
