Looking for a small(size) amp for outdoor audio

Define "Outside use" and what type of speakers? If you just want to be able to hear some sound while grilling on the patio on some wee bookshelfs, it's fine. I have something similar hooked up to some moderately efficient full-range 3.5" drivers, and it's dandy for working in the garage. If you are trying to have something like a Outdoor Home Theater/Drive-in type experience, powering tower speakers, then no.

If you live in a decent to large size city and have time, Craigslist is always full of old AVRs for $ 50 or less. Those will be MUCH better than these. Also as mentioned above, what speakers are you planning to use? amp/avr will always depend on that.

OR you can go for active speakers, Monoprice has some decent ones, starting at $90 shipped

Its for my outside theater. So for movies and what not. I have a receiver that does the job well, I was just looking for something smaller

The Lepai amp will power the bookshelfs to audible levels for dialogue, but probably only out to 10 feet or so, and it will almost certainly clip with loud action scenes. This is a vague guess since we don't know how big of a space people will be in, how far away from the source, speaker qualities, etc. Bass-heavy scenes will probably blow something up eventually, either the amp or the speakers, since neither was designed to put out the LFE that many movies have. Like I said, I have a similar amp for some garage speakers. I'm happy, but the demands aren't high.

Long story short, it's a cheap experiment that will produce results. If you aren't expecting much, it might satisfy you.
