Looking for a roommate.

Living in the greater Boston area has gotten out of hand. Just last month my parents put in $600 worth of oil which SHOULD last a month and a half. The rent is ok at $1000, but with my sister having just moved in, the house is too small and unfortunately leaded (she's pregnant). So we have to find a house quick. Her husband is coming next month with her 3 year old. So this little 900 sq. ft. house is going to quickly be too full. We looked for a couple of decently sized 3 bedroom houses in the greater boston area but the prices are way too steep (around $1800). I then realized the only reason my parents are looking in the Boston area is because of me, so I can continue to finish High School. I told them they shouldn't pay 800+/month just for me so I told them to look for a nice 2 bedroom house/townhouse/apartment in the south shore. So after a couple of hours I found this nice townhouse, plenty big, for $1000 including utility. De-leaded and everything. I figured that if I get a room in Boston for $500 or so that would help a lot. Happens that I found a good one very near where I work for $450/month including utility. Parents offered to help me with $200 month. Doing this they'll still save $600 month. Actually more since this includes utility, WAY more. Point is I need to find a roommate. I'm an 18 year old, male H.S. Senior. I do my own laundry, clean, cook, so my parents are confident I can handle myself and won't be a bother. I have set up an appointment (they didn't ask my age, I just told them I work at the nearby bank), What kind of question should I ask? I've a complete newbie in this whole roommate thing. Like what's taboo? Help please

Yeah that's where I was looking. Found a couple of good candidates which I'm going to check out during this week. For starters I'm going to ask the obvious questions like, how does the garbage work, fridge, living room, bathroom etc. Also I have a 37" LCD TV and a 7.1 sound system. Would it be a good idea to bring that? I'd consider it if the door has a lock (I suppose I could put one in). I most use it during hte weekend when I'm not in school/work. I'm figuring that I could score a couple bucks off my rent having it set up in the living room, though I don't know if that's worth the cost of people "toying" around with it and having to worry about it being stolen. Hmm.

Yeah youngin' I enjoyed that up until my sister effectivly kicked me out :p Nah I know that it's best for my mom to spend time with her and her grandkid. I couldn't make my mom choose between my sister and I so I made the choice for her. Go with my sis, you barely see her and you need to enjoy your grandkids.

it would be a bad idea to bring that at the start IMO, i wouldent bring it untill you get to know the person/s you are living with, and i highlt doubt you will get a break on rent for it

I could never live with someone who didn't know what paragraphs were.

I completely agree.

*sigh* again, ATOT wastes almost half a thread arguing grammar. I've read 3 page sentences so, why is this any harder?

She's from Brazil. She got stuck here with the baby (doctor wouldn't let her go back to Brazil until 4 months after she gave birth). And don't go on about how "ohhh she's just having her kid in the U.S. for citizenship", I've heard that from friends already. Her husband is a mayor for a 50k people city in Brazil. Having a U.S. citizen child might actually hurt his political career in the future...
