I have a 98 Acura Integra GSR that is in good condition but I would like to get something different.

Looking for:
* Auto
* Mid size
* Quiet
* Reliable

year: 2000+

In the range of 5 to 7k. Mileage a plus, not looking for speed. Any ideas?

ie: impala, taurus, ??

Impala LS would be a good choice. I like the 3800 in the LS better than the 3400 in the base.

I have a Buick LeSabre, they're old man cars. The 3800 is a great engine, the rest of the car is highly questionable :

Crappy interior quality (dash cracking + faded)
Suspension utterly shot (hit a bump and keep bobbing around for a block)
Drivers window stopped working
Front Passenger seat sits at a weird forward-leaning angle now
Motor mounts giving problems, replaced one, now another is failing
Turn signals stopped working about 5k miles ago
HORRIBLE paint, most of the hood and trunk deck are gone, roof is strangely okay
Dozens of other little issues that aren't worth thinking about right now

This is on a '95 with a lot of miles :) But I know plenty of '95 and older vehicles that aren't as problematic as this

Maxima is a MUCH nicer car, stronger, faster, better reliability, looks nicer, etc.

Another vote for the Buick, though I would look at a Regal or Century with a 3.8 instead of a LeSabre.
GF had a Regal 3.8, the only thing I truly disliked about it was changing the oil.

Regal is nice, Century a little cheesy. But would you really recommend a Buick over the Maxima? Have you driven both? I'd rather have a supercharged 3800 Buick (hell, even a Pontiac) over the older Maximas, but otherwise ....

I have not driven a Maxima, but the thought of my GF's stepmom's supercharged Riviera makes me drool.

Since you're coming from an Integra, I doubt you'll want to go with a Buick or Taurus. They're rather bland in my opinion. A maxima or altima might do the job though.

Thanks for the responses.

get a mercury grand marquis and don't look back

too big? well maybe but you might as well have it all

hard on gas? well maybe, but you will get it all back in the long run, with a car that runs for ever, has low repair cost, plus very little repairs needed till 250,000 miles

Going from an Integra to a Grand Marquis is like going from dating Natalie Portman to marrying the Queen of England. It's just far too much of a shock for any mortal man to take. Not dissing the G.M., but damnit man, this guy needs something with good handling and performance, and not *TOO* horrible fuel economy. The Maxima, with 250ish HP, 20/29mpg, and extrememly reliable (tons of them out there with 200-250k still running strong) fits the bill nicely. Test it, you'll like it, I guarantee it :) I wish I had one instead of MY own old man car (LeSabre). And Century is far too cheesy, it reeks of a penny-pinching pensioner's weekend golf car.
