its gotta be decent size(mid tower).

what id really like is 2 120mm fan mounts so i can put 2 case fans in there because i have a video card with passive cooling inside.

just a basic black case for a budget PC.

I just bought this one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16811147073 It is very similar to the posted above but a tiny bit cheaper and it might have less constriction on the front intake air path, hard to say. I should have that by Friday. It's been very annoying buying a case these days. Many of them have bad layouts, buttons, LED's and audio ports low on the case or on the side or behind a swinging panel where they are harder to reach. It is also very annoying that 90% of all new cases come in black or in some expensive and useless designer style.

I miss the days when it was easy to get a good cheap beige case that wasn't trying to win any fashion awards, just get the job done. And the worst thing with the new cases is that so many of them are "tool-less". I don't want proprietary parts to lose or break. Screwing and unscrewing screws only takes me a few seconds longer and I never have to worry about some odd ball size, there are basically only two screw types to keep and with five computers in the house, I don't need special parts to have to keep inventory track of. Terrible designs these days IMO.

I'd wait until I had enough money to get one of either the R6A or R5600 series Rosewill case. Then you will have a sturdy box which would last you thru several changes of guts while the one you linked is very flimsy and made from recycled tin cans (0.5mm SGCC metal)....

Hey aigo,

. I puzzled over that a bit and decided you'd have to slow down your fastball so I can hit it. ;-) Did I buy or recommend a 0.5mm SGCC case some time before??? The mushy memory (gray matter) is fading fast...

Cooler Master Centurion 534. My CPU, GPU and motherboard are all passively cooled with the exception of a couple case quiet case fans and a PSU.

Nvidiaguy07, you can also check out any local mom/pop computer shops. Sometimes they'll suprise you... may not be the best or the cheapest, but not having to pay $10-20 shipping can save a few bucks, plus you can look at stuff in person.

How about this Rosewill case? It is 0.8mm SECC construction and is basically based off the original CompuCase 6A19, which was wildly popular BITD for modding. This case is normally $60, but right now is $40 and with free shipping - which is good because these things weigh a ton and are built like tanks! It also has HDD grommets to help reduce vibrational noise, and if these are true to the original, will also have a front filter.

I used to have a CompuCase and improved it greatly by cutting out the fan grills. This one could also use some enlarging of the plastic front to let more air in. With some creative work and a rotary tool, you can create vents that look stock, but are much better.

Hey Zap, they must have just changed the price on that one as when I recommended the R6A series above they all had a $50+ bottom line - excellent deal! Yup, it does look like they leave too much metal in their fan grills. A nibbling tool would make quick work of those with much less mess than a Dremel. But it does only include one of the fans, so he'll need to order one of those as well. I'm not sure I'd order from the Egg as they'd probably charge you full shipping on that to make up for the free on the case, so look for a good one of those that has free shipping as well.

I've still got the original CompuCase 6A19 that I got from Coolcases.com. I had them do the mods to it...punch out the front & rear fan grills, and add a right & left side 92mm fan. They included a washable stainless steel filter. Heck of a case. I added some cheap wheels & now wish I just bought some LL wheels as it seems a little unstable. Not that it matters now since i've got a Stacker 832 that came with wheels. :)

Good sales on cases don't happen very often, Fry's cleared out a bunch of Ultra cases for $20-30 shipped not too long ago. Antec offers some decent deals every once in a while, but with slow rebates.

VERY slow rebates...& then they'll try to tell you your submission was invalid or some other crap. I ordered the P180 & the Sonata III from Frys earlier this year when they had the fairly hot deals on them...a $25 & $30 rebate. On both of them they said the rebate was invalid. Lucky for me I made copies so I could fax them & show they were indeed valid, even though one took a couple of tries. It now looks like i'll finally be getting the checks this month for purchases made in January.
To me, that type of service is unacceptable. Shame on Antec & whoever's doing their rebates!

Nice deal on a very good case =) My GF's computer is in one of these and its solid. Fit & Finish is a bit rough on the interior (gotta squeeze/wiggle the PSU into place for instance) but the result is always a snug fit that doesn't rattle which is better than the alternative.

The only thing I don't like are the perforated side panels but depending on your cooling needs they can be considered a bonus.

Yeah, I ordered a bunch of them. Fry's cancelled two of them and DHL mis-delivered (and damaged) one of them. Oh yeah, two of them are still on backorder. :|
