Looking for a quiet power supply

I currently have a P3 system (512MB RAM) with (4) striped IDE HD's (plus zip, CDRW and an All-in-Wonder Radeon) in a SuperMicro SC750a tower case. I've had to move the computer into the bedroom and need a quieter PS than the Sparkle FSP300-60GT that came in the case.

Since I'm also thinking about a P4 upgrade, the time is right for a new PS. What is the quietest PS out there? The PC Power/Cooling Silencer is the only one I can find that actually tells me dBA. Other Sparkle's only say "with Noise Killer", what that does for me (other than marketing), I'm not sure.

Also, if I do go with the Silencer, it comes in a 275W and 400W -- I'm assuming that with the 275W would be adequate (since P4's draw less power than P3's). Is this a good assumption?

Thanks for the help.

See this thread for a discussion about the QuietPC 300W power supply. It's by far the quietest one I've heard, but a bit pricey. I own two of them.

you can always get any power supply....like an Enermax and just do the fan mod. just open it up and replace the fans with some panaflo's. that'll make any power supply shut up.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not an open the PS type of guy so I'll probably go with the quietPC PS -- they look pretty good (at least on the website).

Pheran (or anyone else) -- have you ever directly compared them to PC Power's Silencer? I couldn't find a dBA rating for the quietpc on their website so I was wondering how they compared.

you can also try the antec truepower psu's. they use the smartfans which are thermally controlled. the 80mm fan specs are:
temp(C) - 20 :: 25 :: 30 :: 35 (probably won't get this hot)
dba - 21 :: 23 :: 24.5 :: 33

92mm specs:
temp(C) - 20 :: 25 :: 30 :: 35
dba - 23 :: 24 :: 27.5 :: 28

No, I have not heard the PCP&C supplies. I do own a Radio Shack dB meter and I can tell you that there's no way the QuietPC PSU would even register on it, though.
