I need to convert my pst files so that I can use them in Thunderbird.
Does anyone know of a conversion app that is very easy to use?

I'm sure when I used Thunderbird it imported my mail from my PST file itself.

It will import it if you have Outlook installed... but I don't.

I have the pst file backed up from my old hard drive that crashed. I don't want to install Outlook just so I can import my mail, contacts, calendar, etc.

I believe you will need to install Outlook, because Outlook's pst's are encrypted, and you will need Outlook to decrypt them for importing into another program.

How does TB import them if they are encrypted files? Does TB take over Outlook and use it to read the encrypted files before it converts the files to mbox? Or does it take the raw .pst files and convert them to mbox, even though they are encrypted?

this guy may have more answers to your question than me. he recommends importing to OE first, then TB, or using a third party app.
