looking for a program to design the backyard of my house. I want to change the landscaping that I have now, and was hoping for some ideas as well from this program...any free/shareware out there? I have been playing around in photoshop, but that is turning to be a PITA...

How about a pencil with an eraser and some notebook paper...

I've already done that...wanted to try something different...there are a couple of programs that you can take a picture of your yard/house/whatever and add/remove plants, grass, etc...
 
Landmark looks pretty cool, but at $1,295.00 for a copy, a little bit out of my price range...thanks for the website though 🙂
