Looking for a program to delete write protected files & system files

Hey,

On my storage drive, I have several directories that I've had since previous formats and can't delete them since it gives me the message that they are in use or write protected. I never knew how big these folders were until I tried out Knoppix today and realised that they were several gigabytes.

Furthermore, I have a directory on my drive that I cannot see in windows that is d:\Recycler. This directory is a few gigabytes big also. I assume it is some kind of system file, and I want to delete it (provided it's not essential to my OS of course).

Anyway, does anyone know of a program I can use to delete these write protected directories and how I would go about getting rid of the \Recycler\ directory?

I'll assume you're using windows XP.

The recycler is your recycle bin. Every drive has one unless you configure it not to. Right click on your recycle bin on the desktop, click the Global tab, click "configure drives independently" set the size on your storage drive to 0%. The default is 10%, which, on a large drive, can be a few GB.

As far as your other folders, I'd have to know what they are to help.

true, but the recycler folder shouldn't be gb in size unless u never empty the recycling bin. in windows u can see it if u set file explorer to show hidden/sstem files. if it really is a double u can delete it using a program called move on boot, its freeware.
