Looking for a program that lists devices in my computer

Well there is Everest, but often unless you have the drivers, your computer doesn't know what is in your computer. Shouldn't you know what is in your computer?

Well, I have an old Toshiba Satellite R15-S829 Tablet PC. I upgraded to W7 before checking everything. Now it won't install the Intel 82852/82855 GME video drivers and something else. I don't know what that something else is. I have a backup of the Old image in WHS but it'd be a hassle to go back and reinstall that just to see the one thing I am missing.

another one is called siw ive used that to sometimes get the details. also you can sometimes google the hardware id you get from the device in device manager on the details tab of the unknown device

Highly recommend Belarc Advisor. It's free. I use it on all my computers including my T60 laptop.

Belarc

It works in XP, Vista, and Win 7. Even shows you your key IDs for software.

Yes it does, everything has a PCI or USB ID which is how Windows determines which driver to use.

Since I'm a Linux guy I'd just boot a Linux LiveCD and run 'lspci', that'll list all of the PCI devices in the machine.

If windows doesn't have the driver and you don't know what it is, just click the properties in device manager and cliick details. pick hardware id for the device in the drop down box. Sometimes you have to pick parent to get the correct device id.
The VEN and DEV and SUBSYS numbers tell exactly what the device is.
Then put the info in here:

Many of the programs that did this for you are out of date.

Well, that is what I get for posting while tired 🙂

What you are looking for is Unknown Device Finder.
For XP I use an older version:
UnknownDeviceIdentifier
This doesn't require an install, runs from a folder. I can't find a link for it anymore, but the one for Vista will also work on XP, its just a newer version that requires an install.
(if you want this version p.m. me)

For Vista Unknown Device Identifier:
udi
Which you can get here:
