Looking for a particular type of game

I like RPGs with magic and swords, and my friend likes FPS games with guns and lazers, and he hates point-and-click type fighting systems, like in MMORPGs. He likes to do it himself, like in Far Cry or Doom.
We are trying to find a game that effectively combines both of those worlds, but is also multi-player.
Any ideas?

Yes, I've played it, and WoW is a MMORPG all the way, including the point & click battle system.
