It's a tasty sausage (kinda like a hot dog, but yummier) individually packaged in plastic, with a thin metal ring clamping it shut on both ends. To eat, you snip off the top, squeeze the sausage out, and enjoy. I can't remember what it's called, but I'm trying to find a place to buy it online to no avail...

Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

I tried looking for them in Chinatown this past weekend, no luck. :( The only place I've ever seen/eaten them was in Hong Kong, and I've had a serious craving for them recently.

Try a Japanese market like Mitsuwa or Marukai. I could swear I've seen those there.

If you can get a name for them I can check at a couple of the Asian markets by me for them. I think one place can actually order things for you if they don't carry them.

I'm thinking what GideonX linked to - chinese sausages. But they're not wrapped individually.

For some reason based off your description, I keep getting these dirty thoughts of cutting a condom and....um.....nm.

I was thinking lap cheong (Chinese sausages) too. But I'm assuming this is something you don't need to cook first?

*edit* prolly not, but these things kick ass :D

nope. although they do kick ass.

I know what Dezign is talking about - they're made out of pork, like hot dogs, but soft, and have a slightly different flavor. plus, I suck at getting the packages apart.

Maybe if you ask your parents to call relatives in China, or something. I remember back when I visited my grandparents, a little ways away from their apartment, there was a guy who had boxes upon boxes of them. :D

Chinese snacks rule.

Yep thats the kind hes thinking, they orginate from Japan. They really don't taste fishy. THey come in a pack and inside they are all individually wrapped.

and its not lap cheongs are never individually wrapped and need to be cooked.

I don't know what they're called, but the description reminds me of liverwurst for some reason.

Maybe they have something similar in Europe that I'm thinking about...

You got it... they're a much softer meat than lap cheungs, which do kick serious ass with a bowl of rice and a fried egg. :p
