Looking for a notebook...

Preferably under $1,500

Requirements:
CPU: Pentium M 1.5 (Dothan, or whatever model it is. The one with 2 MB of l2 cache)+/Athlon 64 3200+ or equivalent
RAM: 1 gig, preferably
HD: anything over 40 is fine
VIDEO: something along the lines of mobility radeon 9700, or mobility geforce 6600

AND, of course, it CAN'T LOOK UGLY!

Any suggestions? I looked at the Mayhem G3 on abspc.com and it seems to fit my needs, but it's out of stock right now and I am always open to suggestions!

First, whatever you buy I recommend staying away from MR 9700's or any other AGP systems. You're buying a new machine and should get the latest tech possible.

What size do you prefer? Is it going everywhere with you? 14", 15", 15.4", 17"? Widescreen? Regular?

A start is the Asus Z71v. Centrino, 15.4" WSXGA+, GF 6600 128MB, customizable barebones.

Configured from http://www.geared2play.com you can get a Z71v for $1323 w/the following:
P-M 1.6, WiFi, XP Pro, CDRW/DVDROM, 2 year warranty

Add 1GB DDR2 533 yourself for ~$130
Add 40GB 7200RPM for $130

Add 40GB 16MB Cache 5400RPM for ~$80

Bingo bango, kick @$$ laptop

Other than the 9300, Dell doesn't have any laptops with even midrange cards. Its either the X300 or the 6800. Or do they have an X600 I'm forgetting?

I just see the X300 unless you go with the 9300 & get the 6800. You could get a sweet 9300 with the $750 off, but you'd need a car battery to power it. 😀
