Looking for a new Wrist Watch

Ameesh

Hey Guys,

I am looking for a nice watch that I could wear with casual clothes like Jeans and a Polo or wear when wearing a jacket or even a suit.

I am looking to spend around $1k but am open with. I know a few of you have some nice collections but I forgot who you were.

These are the ones I am looking at but they are a bit expensive:

http://www.amazon.com/Omega-Mens-Speedmaster-Watch-3523-80-00/dp/B000BK96PE/

what are your favorite watches or watch brands?

Looking for another watch also. The Seiko I have doesn't go with everything I wear (a majority, but not all). That Tissot looks really nice!

Agree with ^. Or get a used Omega Speedmaster Pro (Moonwatch).
Also check out timezone.com

I totally agree with the Tag Carrera, as I just picked up a Twin Time Automatic with a black face. 😀

The other front runner for me was a Baume & Mercier Riviera Automatic...I like a thin watch, so no chrono's...also didn't want something too "bling" and would retain decent value down the road.

Good luck!

I almost bought mine but never did.. I would love to get a seamaster 🙂 of course with "laser" on it... currently using a tag

My fiancee got me a Seiko Kinetic Perpetual watch and it's awesome. It's kinetic so you never need to buy a battery for it and it goes into a sort of suspension mode when the kinetic charge wears out.

I rarely wear it over the weekend so when I pick it up on Monday and give it a shake the hands will spin around until it catches up to the current date/time.

The suspension mode lasts quite a long time too - 4 years or something crazy like that.

I have this model, though the band on mine is different (links).

oh man you guys have given a lot of choices. I prefer ones with steel straps.

do you think a black face is ok no matter what i wear or should i go with a traditional steel or white face?

As far as I know, black is fine. I think the size and flashiness of a watch with a steel bracelet would be a bigger issue than whether the face is black or silver. I think that technically you are supposed to have a watch with a band that matches your belt.

With that said, I've always just worn this watch with my suit, because I don't have anything else. BTW, that page is inaccurate, it's a quartz watch and I got it for half that price...
