Thought I'd see what y'all recommend. I have an HP 722C right now, but I think it's on the verge of crapping out on me (almost 4 years old, it's been through a lot).

I'd prefer to purchase from Newegg or Mwave, I've had some good experiences with them. I'm looking at an HP 940C right now, it looks like a good quality printer for a good price. Any suggestions or ideas?

Epson, really? I've heard less than desirable things about Epson... or maybe that was Lexmark...

Epson is great...I believe you are reffering to the print head thingy...

Epson has permanent print heads that save you money on ink costs......if you don't use them they colg up///still I use mine often so no biggie..GREAT QUALITy too..

BLows HP AWAY..CANON destroys HP too...

Actually, now that I think of it, my dot matrix could probably take on that 722c of yours....

Don't get me wrong, HPs aregreat for text and such, but for color they are NOT the best . period.

I asked this question recently, of course in the proper forum, wink wink nudge nudge, but I guess it's OK here too since all the really smart people usually hang here, but anyway, I asked, thinking I'd get the HP 1315?, it's in the other room and I got a bad leg, and I was told that any of the top hp, probably the photo realt 3, or is it 2, printers are identical in print quality, but vary in features, so if money is an issue, get the best hp in this class that has the features you need and I think you'll be happy. I read that a Canon of some type won a best buy in, the computer magazine that has pc in a red square. Sorry, I don't see words unless I pay special attention and have no visual memory for titles, names, etc.

I'd suggest taking a good hard look at the Epson 820 which gives you the best bang for your buck photo quality output.

recently got a canon s500 for a friend

quality in text and print is AWESOME
and the main reason why we got that one: 4 seperate inktanks, so one for each color independently exchangeable and in comparison to HP ink ridiculously cheap aswell.
The per page running costs are under half of the HP940!!!

Are there any decent laser printers y'all can recommend?

Photo quality isn't that big of a deal, I just need something reliable that can pump out a lot of pages of text, if need be. Color quality is a plus, too.

I'd go with an Epson. The newer ones take separte inks so thats good. Saves more on ink cartriages.

I'm not sure if you can get 3rd party ink cartriages though. You must though?

Got Epson Photo Ex and very happy with it.

A decent color laser printer is around $2,000

I can find you an AWESOME laser printer for $200 but it's only black & white, NOT color.

Wouldn't mind it. How expensive are the ink cartridges/units?

I hope you're whistling at the product/price and not me? I dunno what my wife would have to say about that.

Get HP. Though some say they're not as good, in reality they blow everything away. I know it. I have used several different printers and found HPs to be the best, really.
