Director of Other - Mountain View
This position is based in Mountain View, CA.
THE OPPORTUNITY
At Google, in order to grow through innovation, we spend 70 percent of our time on the core business, 20 percent on related projects, and 10 percent on new and unrelated businesses which we call ?Other?. As our core business continues to enjoy phenomenal success, our tangential efforts must equally evolve to capitalize on opportunities before us. Under the ?Other? umbrella, Google aims to identify and pursue opportunities where technology can revolutionize traditional and more mature industries.
Located at the company?s Mountain View Headquarters, the Director of Other will lead these "Other? efforts until they grow to be independent within the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Partner with Google?s Strategy and Business Operations team to identify opportunities new to the company, prepare business case rationale, and present to Google leadership for support.
-Develop product road map and define project milestones to ensure timely delivery of market-ready products.
-Build, lead, and motivate multiple teams, representing the right talent and experience to address various target projects.
-Foster team-oriented environment to capitalize on the creativity and diversity of both project team members and other Google employees alike.
-Leverage Google's internal / external networks and resources to get projects off the ground and built to scale.
REQUIREMENTS:
?Inventor and builder? orientation with a proven track record of turning great ideas into successful new ventures.
Ability to recruit and manage small teams of innovators.
Experience with, and strong understanding of, two or more of the following areas: computer science, electronics, materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering.
Ability to influence and leverage resources across all company functions, teams, and geographies.
Bachelor's degree within technical discipline required; advanced technical degree desired.
