Isn't that Epi's '56 Les Paul repro? Epiphone usually does a good job on body construction but their pickups and tuners are usually poor-fair quality. If you could find one and put some Gibson Burstbuckers on it it would probably sound pretty damned authentic :) (Burstbuckers are actually '57 pickups. The '56 pickups were Gibson's "Soapbar" pickups, which were kind of noisy). I wouldn't mind finding one to check out. I love classic guitars (I wish I could afford Gibson's LP '58 repro- that neck is PERFECT for my hand but I'd have to decide if I want to dump $4g's on one or dump my wife :)

She won't let me buy pricey stuff anymore since I'm not making money playing anymore :(
The '56 Goldtop has alnico P90s in it. Going to go with P90s on my next guitar. I have a set of Seymour humbuckers in my current guitar, next I want the P90 sound.

Kind of concerend. Tried what I think was an Epiphone LP Classic Plus today and it felt kind of cheap. I need to try a few more before I buy. Heck, Plan B is to get an Agile AL-2500 Goldtop for $200, swap the pups and still be $200 ahead of the Epiphone price.

The Agile guitars are actually made really well for the price that they cost. I mean they might have sort of cheap electronics, but everything else is supposed to be pretty damned good for the tag on them. Swap out the pots for higher quality, change pickups for your sound, and get the strings you like on it, and you're good to go. Just so long as you have a decent amp to go with it

Could you give me a link to his heatware?

Looking for an Epiphone Goldtop P90, how much?

EDIT: Um, I guess he is not active in this thread anymore. Oh well.

Uh...'57 pickups are burstbuckers? Do you mean that the Burstbuckers are PAF's? Because burstbuckers and '57 Classics are completely different pickups...probably of similar nature, but maybe the burstbuckers provide a bit more warmth. But as far as I knew, they were different.

And, yeah, the soapbar p90s are going to be noisier because they're not humbuckers...they're single coils. I prefer the sound of p90s though.

That's what's getting to me about this. I ordered an Ibanez AF75 and was planning on putting some nice p90 pickups in it to try and get a Gibson jazz box sound, but I have no idea what the deal is.

They have type I, II, and III Burstbuckers. I think you want the II and III combo for a '57 sound (IIR they're overwound for a warmer sound).

I've always told people to be most concerned of the woodwork on a guitar. Everything else can be swapped out. Cheap paint, bolt on necks, warped necks...all things to look for.

cheap paint isn't that big of a deal seeing as to how you can refinish your guitar if you see it fit.

Some people actually prefer bolt on necks, to be honest with you.

Oh, and I don't know what this guy's deal is but he's not responding again.

hey guys..

i apologize for the lack of communication on this post..
i posted the reason for my abscence on hardforum and my main fs post but i didnt even think to post here. I was on vacation which everyone i dealt with was well aware of. However my uncle died over the break and I rushed up north and was gone the whole week. Everything but two guitars have been shipped out, which i plan to ship it early this week (overnight) to make up for the delay. I apologize however it was unavoidable..

And about someone claiming i didnt get htem there iriver mentioned earlier in this thread...

you must have the wrong guy because i never sold an iriver or even had an offer about one..I just sold an amp (shipped and received) 1 bass (received) 2 guitars (shipping ASAP) an LCD (shipped and received) and a couple of other things (xbox, pc games)..

I really do apologize for not updating here and I can assure you you will get your stuff..I have proof of guitars in my possession by receipt and picture if you will just send me an IM b00her..i promise you you'll have it this week..

to everyone else:

i can not get any more deals, however I have a $180 music123.com gift card for sale...

would like to get $120 shipped for it (paypal only)
