Looking for a new gaming desktop

My current desktop is already 5 years old and i'm looking for a pre-built replacement. I used to build my own rigs but i don't have the time or the inclination to do so anymore. That said, having only ever built my own rigs, i'm really not sure which way to go with a pre-built since other websites recommend many different brand/models.

This will be purely for gaming, mostly MMOs, and i don't really want to spend more than $2000, preferable no more than $1500. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

1) That system has very limited graphics potential. Is also over priced.
2) That is a notebook, not a desktop.

Anandtech have done some reviews of pre-built systems, that would seem like a good place to start.

This is an OK collection of parts in a prebuilt for $950 at Newegg: (Cyberpower, i5-2500K, 8 GB, geforce 560 (not ti)

.... unless you have the bad luck to get a defective one or broken in shipping (read user feedback).

If you build it yourself, you can add a SSD for faster boots and map / level loads, and you can pick out a better power supply. It's really not hard to spend a couple of hours putting together a PC with the exact parts that you want.

Start a thread in General Hardware (see the sticky thread for questions to answer) and we can set you up with a good collection of parts.

Reading comprehension seems to be a bit on the down side today, reading the title we can OBVIOUSLY see the OP is looking for a new DESKTOP. Shocking I know, and while this subforum is usually reserved for laptops and notebook inquiries this is technically the place to ask about pre-built systems. OP if you are serious about gaming I would recommend a mix between custom and pre-built.

I personally would head over to cyberpowerPC.com and check out their systems, you be paying more then doing it all yourself from newegg, but you get a warranty and can have them OC as well as other things that make it more or less a custom PC.

Doesn't newegg or ncix have a $50 computer building/1 year warranty service? Basically, you can order a bunch of parts and they will put it together for you.
