Hello, I've had about enough of my 2000 audi A6. The electronics system is really starting to get messed up, the windows are acting crazy and it's all too much work. Anyways, I was looking at new cars and was wondering what you guys would reccomend. I really don't trust used cars anymore on account of the bad experience with my current audi. There are a few things I am looking for in my next car
  • repairs don't cost a fortune (audi's are ridiculously expensive to repair)
  • minimum V6 240hp
  • preferably a lower insurance rate
  • ~20 mpg gas (i really don't want anything less than 18 or 19)
  • automatic transmission
  • No convertibles/compact/sporty (EVO, WRX, etc) cars

So far I have looked at a bunch of different cars(many are the base models), here's my list...
Acura TL
Caddilac CTS
Infiiniti G35
Lexus IS300
Nissan Maxima
Accord Hybrid (32 mpg with 240 hp is VERY ENTICING)

What do you guys think?

From personal experience, the G35 is just awesome. We own one and it's just a blast to drive. Interior is very roomy and puts out really good (haven't driven hard since it's new). It's a G35x 4wd so it's basically the new Skyline badged Infiniti. The only gripe I have about it is the lack of an LCD and the cheapo looking dash. Other than that, the car is beautiful!

Altima 3.5SE or SL wouldn't be too bad (maybe even the Altima SE-R, but I don't know if they still produce them) . Smaller than the Maxima, but more room than the G35 Sedan. FWD though (well, so is the Maxima).

The current IS300 only pushes 215hp. If you want one with 240+ you'll have to wait for the upcoming IS350 but I'm pretty sure that would be closer to 40k than 30k. And do you want ~20mpg city, highway, or what? Some of the cars you listed won't even break 20mpg city.

You're kidding, right? You're going to spend 30K on a car, and at 20mpg a FORTUNE on gas, and you want something with low maintenance costs? What do you care, you obviously burn through money like it's nothing, just get whatever pretty shiny car makes you giggle and you're all set.

Acura TL...V6 3.2L with 270 horses...everything included like moonroof, leather seats, power mirrors.

Available options are manual or auto, with or without navigation only.

You can have this baby for $31.5 K with navi...less with out...licence and tax not included.

This is Los Angeles pricing...they're moving the 05s to make room for the 06 models.

Why do I know...wifey just got one and everything was haggled thru the internet.

You can check the going price for this car in your location... Text
For other models...just navigate the site.:)

A V6 accord gets about 20mpg, I would rather a lower end acura than a high end honda. Also I forgot to mention I don't want a sports car like an evo or anything of that nature. Also for altima's, I really don't like the style, the maxima looks much better. Also I want to stay away from european cars (especially VW, my audi experience was terrible). If you give me a few seonds I'm going to add a poll.

I just got a G35 last week.

I thought it was the best bang for the buck. Unfortunately, it won't fit your profile for low insurance. The car is listed as a performance sedan or sport sedan so the insurance rate is high. Its higher than my SUV which is about $10K more in price.

Mileage is about 22MPG. The G35x gets terrible mileage if you are interested. It gets around 15-17MPG.

G35 or CTS

CTS is leagues better and a tad bigger than the G35, but it costs more. The CTS base engine at 2.8L is not very good so you would want to move up to the 3.6L.

I would also recommend:
Mazda 6s - 220HP 6spd Automatic trans (same interior size as TL)
Lincoln LS - 232 HP V6 5sp Automatic RWD 280HP V* also available
Volvo S40 T5 - 220HP AWD available
Saab 9-2X
Pontiac G6 GTP - 240HP V6
Altima SE-R

The TL fanboys are hard in this forum, a great FWD car with loads of options: Downside is that they sell close to 100,000 of these cars so you have no individuality.

Yeah, the only thing worse than a new Audi is a used Audi.

I'd get the Acura TL. I've driven the newest one and it is a very nice car. I saw a dark red one today with chrome wheels and it looked really nice.

A friend of mine has an '04 Maxima he bought new and he's had loads of problems with it. Mainly with the brakes but some issues with the crappy Bose stereo and Nissan service sucks ass.

The Lexus IS is quite a bit smaller than the others on your list but a nice car.

The Infiniti is a great car and would be my second choice to the Acura.

Voted TL out of your choices. You seem to be leaning more towards luxury than sport. G35 is a bit more sporty along with being RWD, but it gets worse mileage and isn't that fun unless you get it in manual IMO.

How is the CTS leagues better than the G35? I don't recall it losing to the CTS in any of the car mags.
