This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of our primary Linux servers and systems. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining system and application software on the Linux servers; participating in project teams to maintain and improve campus electronic services; completing diagnostics as needed; developing, implementing and documenting configuration standards; maintaining all aspects of the Database administration; maintaining current and in-depth industry knowledge of Windows and Linux systems; and helping staff and users with problems. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in computer science or related field required with certificates or specialized training in systems management and software development required and a minimum of 3 years experience on Unix and Windows systems. Must be able to design complex and efficient algorithms and to deal with complex problems and tasks with minimal supervision or assistance. Must have the aptitude to learn new technical skills quickly. Requires significant knowledge of Novell systems and applications, Linux systems, utilities, and open source applications, Perl, PHP, and Apache.
